PRACTICAL ACUPUNCTURE
FOR DENTISTS – Do you get the Point?
|
|
Traditional
Chinese Acupuncture takes years to fully understand, but fortunately a
relatively small number of acupuncture sites can provide effective
treatments for dentistry. This heavily practically orientated course
will cover:
-
The background of acupuncture,
including some of the traditional aspects.
-
Diagnosis and appropriate use of
acupuncture in dentistry
-
Identification of acupuncture
points, and meridians.
-
Anatomy and histology of trigger
points. Their relevance in Myofascial syndrome & TMD.
-
Equipment.
-
Needling techniques.
-
Neurophysiology & the mechanisms of
acupuncture.
-
Brief outline of other treatment
techniques.
-
Expected outcomes.
-
Treatment planning.
-
Some scientific evidence to support
the use of acupuncture.
Teaching is by
lecture, demonstration, and practical sessions. A comprehensive course
manual will be provided, along with samples for practice. Delegates will
be expected to practice acupuncture on each other…not a day for
needle phobics!
Due to the nature of the course, attendance is
limited to 12.
As this course is
always so popular , Tom Thayer has kindly agreed to run it on
consecutive days, for us again this year.
