ADVANCED ACUPUNCTURE
FOR DENTISTS – Did You Get the Point?
|

A follow-up course for those who have completed a
basic introduction to acupuncture. Following the same lines as the
first course, this day will refresh the practical aspects of acupuncture
to refine technique and then develop knowledge by discussing and
demonstrating:

Diagnosis and appropriate use of acupuncture in dentistry
-
Identification of acupuncture points and meridians
-
Additional (distal) points for traditional acupuncture
-
Ear acupuncture
-
Electro-acupuncture and its use in chronic pain
-
Treatment planning
-
Neurophysiology and the mechanisms of acupuncture
-
Expected outcomes
-
Some scientific evidence to support the use of acupuncture
Teaching is by lecture, demonstration and practical
sessions. A course manual will be provided. As before, delegates will
be expected to practice acupuncture on each other …not a day for
needle phobics!
Due to the nature of the course,
attendance is limited to 14.

INTRAVENOUS CONSCIOUS
SEDATION

An opportunity to explore how conscious sedation
can help your patients (anxious or otherwise). Intravenous techniques
will be described and equipment will be available to practice
venepuncture and monitoring.
The latest standards will be discussed and
principles of patient assessment and selection outlined.
Suitable for beginners and experienced
sedationist as either an introduction or as an update.

THE PARTIALLY DENTATE
PATIENT, PROBLEMS & SOLUTIONS
|

This is a full day lecture course, which presents a
rational approach to the clinical problems of partially dentate patients
with guidelines for selection of those who are suitable for partial
dentures, conventional or adhesive fixed bridgework and implant retained
prostheses. Theoretical considerations for the design of each treatment
modality will be presented together with a number of case histories to
demonstrate a wide range of tips and techniques for clinical success.
As a result of this course, the
participating clinicians will learn how to avoid common planning and
procedural errors during treatment and how to apply a range of clinical
techniques in general dental practice.

skills in Microsoft Word.
After completing the course the user should be able
to:
- Find and replace text within a document
- Use different Save Options
- Create a personal spell check dictionary
- Create bulleted and numbered lists
- Use Indents
- Adjust paragraph spacing
- Create headers and footers with Page Numbers
- Insert a table and use the table tools along
with Borders and Shading Tools
- Use Mail Merge
This course is based
around the more advanced criteria of Module 3 of the European Computer
Driving Licence (ECDL).

THE MANAGEMENT OF
TRAUMATIC INJURIES & MALOCCLUSIONS IN CHILDREN

This day
will be devoted to your child patients. In the morning Jo Clark,
Consultant Orthodontist at St Richard’s Hospital & Worthing Hospital,
will update you on normal and abnormal dental development; some simple
measures which can be carried out in dental practice to prevent the
development of more severe malocclusions later; and when and who to
refer for orthodontic treatment. In the afternoon Jenny Parry,
Consultant Paediatric Dentist at the Royal Alexandra Hospital in
Brighton and Guy’s Hospital, will describe the principles in the
diagnosis and treatment of traumatic dental injuries in children and
adolescents, including treatment objectives, treatment parameters and
long-term expectations.
