CONTROLLING THE ORAL ENVIRONMENT
|
|
The philosophy behind this course is to bring
together a variety of techniques that can be used for manipulating the
soft tissues, achieving improved access, moisture (blood and saliva)
control etc. Topics to be covered include:

Rubber dam techniques
-
Methods for achieving haemostasis
-
Different retraction cord materials/techniques
-
Different methods of achieving moisture control
-
Different types of matrix band systems (including those for
composites)
-
How to achieve proper contact points with posterior composites
-
Use of mouth props
-
Use of cervical matrices etc.
The participants will have a chance to
try out these various techniques/materials.

CHRISTMAS LECTURE -
Clinical Update with Quiz
|

This day will be an update on clinical matters in
relation to dental practice. Topics to be covered include:
- Cardiology for the GDP (to include antibiotic
prophylaxis, heart lesions, prosthetic valves, post CAGB)
- Special needs for the diabetic
- Practice cross infection control
- Dealing with difficult patients
- Drug interaction in dentistry
- Anaphylaxis, collapse in the surgery
Speakers will
present a small prize to the winner of their quiz and there will be a
grand prize for the overall winner.
