VTS Programme

The VTS scheme in Chichester offers posts in February and August. These are normally of 3 years duration comprising 2 years of hospital posts relevant to General Practice training followed by a year as a registrar in a local training practice. There may  be some flexibility to arrange schemes of shorter duration comprising a year or 18 months in hospital posts. The rotation normally includes SHO posts in General Medicine which comprises part acute experience in the Medical Assessment Unit and part rehabilitation and Care of the Elderly Medicine, Accident and Emergency, Obstetrics and Gynaecology and Paediatrics. Psychiatry is offered as a flexible option and can be included in a scheme.

On-going General Practice input for those in hospital posts is provided by release for 5 days in each 6 month post to a local training practice. This is usually the practice where the registrar year will take place and the educational content is planned by the SHO and the trainer.
