Study Leave – ST1 and ST2 years

See page 6 of KSS GP Study Leave guidance – http://kssdeanery.org/sites/kssdeanery/files/KSS_Study_Leave_Guidance_v2.0_1.pdf

GP Trainees have up to 30 days discretionary study leave per annum.  Study leave needs to be discussed and approved by your Educational Supervisor, the GP Programme Directors and Clinical Supervisor before you apply.

Study Leave applications will need to be in areas where you have gaps in your knowledge and GP curriculum coverage and should not be used to cover areas that you may already have a lot of experience in.

Please be aware that Study Leave cannot be taken in the 4 month Palliative Care post.  This is due to St. Wilfrid’s Hospice being a Charity.

We feel that up to 5 days maximum could be allowed to prepare for the Applied Knowledge Test (AKT) exam and this should be discussed with your Educational Supervisor.

All Study Leave will be seen by the GP Programme Directors, therefore, please give us plenty of notice.

• 3 days in General Practice (1 day per four month block)

• 3 days Locality Group (6 x ½ days)

• Any Regional Study Days are classed as study leave

For ST1s and ST2s – the half day release course when in GP placements does not count as study leave.
